Silicon coatings refer to coating systems containing organosilane monomers, organosilicon oligomers or organosilicon polymers. It can be cured/cross-linked to form a film under certain conditions, which can play the role of durable protection or decoration. Silicone coatings use organosilane monomers, organosilicon oligomers or organosilicon polymers as the main film-forming substances. Since the "Si-O-Si" bond in organosilicon has good stability, silicon coatings have good Heat resistance and chemical resistance, and excellent weather resistance and corrosion resistance, which in turn have outstanding gloss and color retention. At the same time, due to the low surface energy of silicone, it has good hydrophobic and waterproof properties, and can be widely used in the durable protection of stone and concrete structures. Silicone coatings are high-solid content or even solvent-free systems, or water-based systems. Therefore, silicon coating systems only contain a small amount of solvent, or only release a small amount of low-molecular alcohol compounds during the curing process. It is a new type of environmentally friendly coating.
Due to the structural characteristics of silicone itself, that is, the number of alkoxy groups is large and it is hydrolyzable (the hydrolysis activity of alkoxy groups on the same silicon atom is different), therefore, the silicon coating film-former has good structural designability, The structure of the silicon coating film-former can be controlled according to actual needs, so as to meet the different and individualized needs of customers.

According to different classification methods, there can be different classifications. Here, the composition of the main film-forming substances of silicon coatings is classified as follows:
1. Pure silicon, including silicone resin and alkylsilane monomer or oligomer.
① The solid content of silicone resin is above 60%.
② Alkylsilane monomers or oligomers are solvent-free and supplied in liquid form, and are mainly used for durable protection of substrates such as concrete and stone.
2. Organic modification, including epoxy-silicon coating, acrylic-silicon coating, polyurethane-silicon coating.
① Epoxy-silicon coating is a two-component system. Such as IOTA E30
② Acrylic-silicon coating has the function of one-component system. Such as IOTA 6046
③ Polyurethane-silicon coating refers to the coating containing acrylic-polyurethane-organic silicon, which has more excellent performance, such as IOTA 6072A.
The main difference between the three systems is that the polyurethane-silicon coating system and the acrylic-silicon system have better weather resistance and color and gloss retention than the epoxy-silicon system. Epoxy-silicon coatings are the first generation of weather-resistant silicone coatings, and acrylic-silicon coatings are the second-generation weather-resistant silicone coatings. Compared with traditional silicone coatings, the biggest features of these three coating systems are: ① Traditional organic silicon coatings Silicone coatings are only cured by alkoxy cross-linking, and the curing method is single, which may result in a lower degree of cross-linking. The above three coating systems have both alkoxy cross-linking and curing mechanisms between organic functional groups. Such as epoxy-amine curing mechanism, epoxy-anhydride curing mechanism, etc., can increase the degree of crosslinking and improve performance. Silicone coatings have better physical and mechanical properties.
3. Water-based systems, including water-soluble or water-dispersible systems such as water-based silicon emulsions, modified silicon emulsions, and silane pastes. The systems do not contain any external solvents, are easy to clean, and are convenient for construction. Such as 6175S.
