VTMOEO is a difunctional silane with a reactive vinyl group and a hydrolyzable 2-methoxy-ethoxy group. It is a colorless, low-viscosity liquid with a typical aromatic odor. In the presence of moisture, it can be hydrolyzed to produce methoxyethanol and reactive si-oh. In addition, the vinyl functional groups can react with suitable polymers (using peroxide or irradiation catalysis).

VTMOEO can be used as an adhesive promoter, surface modifier and raw material for the synthesis of other compounds between inorganic materials (such as glass, metal and filler) and organic polymers (including thermoplastic, thermoset and elastomer). It can be used as a binder for mineral filler polymers, as a copolymer monomer for many polymers, and as an additive for organic coatings.
