The time of college entrance examination is not unchangeable
China's college entrance examination system was established in 1952. The time of college entrance examination in that year is August 15, 16 and 17. A unified proposition and a unified reference answer and scoring standard are formulated by the whole country.
In 1977, the college entrance examination was resumed. The time was pressing. There was no enough time for all parts of the country to make full preparations. The only winter college entrance examination opened in the whole country. On December 10, 5.7 million people rushed into the examination hall at the same time.
In 1978, it was the national unified enrollment examination of colleges and universities in the true sense. At that time, the unified proposition and provincial enrollment were implemented for the first time in China. This enrollment system has been basically used up to now. The time of college entrance examination is changed from winter to summer, and the time of examination is from July 20 to 22.
From 1978 to 2002, the time of college entrance examination is fixed in July. Except 1978 (July 20-22) and 1983 (July 15-17), the three days are July 7, 8 and 9.
During the SARS period in 2003, the college entrance examination was not postponed, but advanced for a whole month. The reason why it was advanced to June is that some members of the CPPCC suggested that the high temperature in July caused frequent natural disasters, which affected candidates' review and examination.
Since 2003, the time of college entrance examination has not been changed. The only exception is that after the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake, some candidates in Sichuan delayed their college entrance examination to July 3, 4 and 5.
This year's college entrance examination is postponed to July. In the history of college entrance examination, there is a precedent to follow.
