Introduction:
Qian Xuesen College of Nanjing University of science and technology is the second college in China, and the first honor college in Jiangsu Province named by Mr. Qian Xuesen, the Yuanxun of "two bombs and one star". As the front position of Nanjing University of science and technology in training top-notch innovative talents and the experimental field to further promote the education and teaching reform, the training mode of innovative talents in the college has achieved good education and teaching results, and has trained a large number of high-quality and high-level research-oriented young talents.
This time, we set up the column of "style of alumni" and invited all the outstanding alumni to share their growth and development experience, so as to guide the students in the school to move forward and create brilliance together!
In 2014, 47 students of Qian Xuesen college were the first graduates of the college. About 40 of them stayed in the school to study for doctorates. The rest of them went out of South China University of technology and went to colleges and universities at home and abroad for further study.
In the first issue, we invited three outstanding alumni to share their experiences: Qi Zhixiang, the youngest professor of Nanjing University of technology, Hou Lu, senior research engineer of Huawei Noah Ark laboratory, and Xu Xiang, postdoctoral candidate of biomedical Department of City University of Hong Kong.

Two thousand and ten
Through selection, I entered the excellent talents program of Nanjing University of science and Technology (the predecessor of Qian Xuesen College) to study material chemical engineering.
Two thousand and twelve
Through the system of mutual selection between teachers and students of Qian Xuesen college, he became Professor Chen Guang of the school of materials and participated in scientific research.
Two thousand and nineteen
After completing the defense of doctoral dissertation of Nanjing University of science and technology, he stayed in school to teach and was selected into the "young top talents" program of Nanjing University of science and technology.

Q& A
Q: As the first student of Qian Xuesen college, what impressed you most about the college?
A: First, the teachers are strong, and the teachers of basic courses are usually the best in the school. Therefore, the basic knowledge can be very solid.
Second, the training mode is good, providing each student with a professional tutor, which allows us to enter the scientific research growth mode in advance, the course learning and scientific research are interconnected, and can better digest and absorb professional knowledge.
In my experience, through the mutual selection of teachers and students, I have the honor to become a student of Professor Chen Guang in the school of materials science and engineering. From then on, Mr. Chen helped me to formulate the undergraduate and master's training plan, which soon made me familiar with and enter into scientific research. During my undergraduate period, Mr. Chen took me to various academic conferences. In addition, Mr. Chen also took me to participate in all aspects of application writing, application defense, stage summary and project conclusion of national major scientific research projects, which also gave me a comprehensive understanding of the academic environment.
In addition, I also made a group of mentors through the platform of the college. A good teacher enables us to broaden our horizons and explore widely; a good friend enables us to communicate with each other and make progress together.

Q: You just mentioned the choice of professional tutor. I want to ask you for the students who are going to make the choice of professional subdivision: how do you think to make the choice of professional?
A: As a "past person", I suggest that younger students and younger sisters should "have extensive contact" and "think more". Contact the teachers and elder and elder sisters of the school more, not limited to specific directions. On this basis, I think more about comparison, so as to find the right major.
In fact, I don't think that a major is good or bad. What's more, like my tutor, "turning a major into an interest.". My tutor often said that "there is no knack for scientific research, that is, to recognize what you have to do, to turn your major into interest, perseverance and effort, and to get happiness in the pursuit of your career.". Therefore, even if the major is not the current "hot spot", as long as we can do our work steadily, we will enjoy it slowly.
Q: So, what is the reason why you chose your major?
A: I am now a scientific researcher of Nanjing University of technology. I think scientific researchers can do what they want to do according to their own interests.
After graduating from high school, I first came into contact with materials science systematically. At that time, I was very ignorant. But after entering the research group, under the guidance of the tutor and with the help of the elder martial brother and elder martial sister, I gradually realized the mystery of the materials, and my interest in the materials became irremediable. Now I am very happy to work in the work I like.
Carry out scientific research under the guidance of tutors
Q: Our students will come into contact with scientific research in the future. How do you think we should cultivate the quality of scientific researchers step by step?
A: Diligence is very important for scientific research. No matter the attitude of skepticism or approval, independent research or team cooperation, not diligent in thinking, not diligent in writing, not diligent in reading, all efforts will be delayed due to laziness.
Now I have the energy but don't do research, and I will spend more time to make up for it later.
Q: The college has always advocated that our students should become students with "characteristics of money school". What do you think is this "characteristic"?
A: Moral conduct is particularly correct, basic knowledge is particularly solid, and scientific research is particularly diligent. In fact, I think this is also the direction I should strive for.
