Introduction:
Qian Xuesen College of Nanjing University of science and technology is the second college in China, and the first honor college in Jiangsu Province named by Mr. Qian Xuesen, the "two bombs and one star" of our country. As the front position of Nanjing University of science and technology in training top-notch innovative talents and the experimental field to further promote the education and teaching reform, the training mode of innovative talents in the college has achieved good education and teaching results, and has trained a large number of high-quality, high-level research-oriented young talents.
This time, we set up the column of "style of alumni" and invited all the outstanding alumni to share their growth and development experience, so as to guide the students in the school to move forward and create brilliance together!
In 2017, there were 104 graduates from Qian Xuesen college, 86% of whom went to University of Pennsylvania, University of California, San Diego, New York University, University of Melbourne, National University of Singapore and other first-class well-known universities at home and abroad for further study.

Since I chose to study for a Ph.D. directly after graduation, I will share some experience in scientific research. In fact, it is a very simple thing to do scientific research. It is the process of finding problems and solving problems. In this process, we must have clear goals, or we may go the wrong way. In the process of scientific research, we must not be impatient. This problem will not be solved in a month or two, maybe for a long time. But if you solve a small problem every day, you will get good results after a long time. In this process, remember to record every day's experiment and thinking, and make a summary plan every week, so that you can not only know what you have done in this process, but also greatly improve the success rate of your project.
Of course, in the process of doing the project, it is also very important to communicate with the tutor and classmates. In the process of communication, a small hint may be worth several days of meditation alone. When doing the project, you must pay attention to the record. My suggestion is to make a record summary of your experiment in the form of PPT, and to report to your tutor every week, which is conducive to the promotion of the project. At last, when summarizing the results, you can also rely on it. It's a long process to read blog. Maybe you are still reading when your classmates have worked. Promotion under the guidance of tutors
I am currently studying for a Ph.D. in the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of industry and information technology of new display materials and devices in the school of materials science and engineering, and my tutor is Professor Zeng Haibo. Talking about the fate with Zeng, we should start with the unique tutor system of the college.
In the sophomore year, the college introduced the learning tutor system and laboratory rotation experience to us. At first, we had no idea about these policies. Later, the college invited many excellent professors to give us academic lectures. At that time, I listened to Mr. Zeng's first lecture in the activity room next to Jinsha Bay, and was deeply attracted by Mr. Zeng's rigorous academic attitude and rich academic achievements. At the end of the lecture, I expressed my interest in his research topic with Mr. Zeng. After that, I often went to Mr. Zeng's laboratory. After my elder brother and elder sister started their experiments, Mr. Zeng would also send me some cutting-edge articles to let me know about scientific research trends. In the third year of college, I also chose Mr. Zeng as my tutor and completed the scientific research training with the students of the school of materials. At the end of the training, I successfully published my first paper on nano research, a journal in the first area of SCI. Under the influence of strong academic atmosphere, when I came to the graduation project of senior high school, I was very handy with the project, successfully completed the project and obtained the provincial excellent graduation project, and the relevant results were later published on Optics Letters.
After graduation, I chose to continue my study with Mr. Zeng. When I just became a doctor, I didn't have so much confusion in my mind. Compared with myself when I was an undergraduate, I would have more ideas when I was doing scientific research, and I would have a clearer purpose when I was doing things. Thank you very much for teacher Zeng's teaching and the tutor system of the college, so that I can walk more and more steadfastly on the road of scientific research.

I suggest that younger students and younger students should be more down-to-earth. The undergraduates in our college are very good at doing scientific research. Many students can publish SCI papers in their undergraduate courses. It may be a very simple thing to publish a paper, but the knowledge in the belly still needs to be accumulated day by day. The purpose of scientific research is not to publish articles, but to solve a scientific research problem. Therefore, it is suggested that students should be down-to-earth when they enter the laboratory.
