Practice makes college life more exciting
Shi Chunxuan, male, Han nationality, born in August 1999, a member of the Communist Youth League, is a 2017 level student majoring in electronic information in Xu Teli College of Beijing University of technology. He has won national scholarship, Beijing Second Prize of national college students' mathematical modeling competition, first prize of national college students' Mathematical Competition (non mathematical category), first prize of non physical group A of national college students' physical competition in some regions, and s prize of American College Students' mathematical modeling competition.
If someone asks what the university brings, perhaps the first thing most people think of is rich knowledge and research experience. For me, university means the development of vision and the transformation of thinking.
I still remember that I just experienced the baptism of senior three at the beginning of my enrollment. The sedentary life style and the work and rest of staying up late and getting up early make my impression of school nothing but learning. Few exchanges with peers, timid in public speaking, not to pay attention to major news at home and abroad. This is me at that time. Therefore, the down-to-earth study life has been carried on smoothly by me from middle school. Later, I found that in addition to attending classes, taking exams and winning prizes in subject competitions, college life seemed to be more free and open. I joined the Propaganda Department of the college, learned many skills in processing images and videos, and contributed to the operation of the official account of the University jointly with the staff. Gradually, I came into contact with various sports activities, volunteer activities and League branch activities.
I have to admit that my initial purpose of volunteering is simple and clear, that is to add points in the comprehensive evaluation. At that time, I didn't believe that some of my classmates, at least those around me, would spontaneously do those voluntary public welfare activities, although some of them did surprise me. Fortunately, with such a purpose, I can do my best to finish my work in voluntary activities, probably out of morality and conscience. Therefore, in the process of practice, I found that I had more communication with my classmates, and those who were not familiar with me gradually became close friends. After helping others, I realized the real significance and value of volunteer activities and practical activities. My goal has become simple, and I no longer think too much about what I can get. Two years later, I can't help but feel that only through my own experience and practice can I really understand the connotation of "a public welfare, a public welfare life".
My first volunteer experience was helping kindergarten teachers take care of their children. Looking at them scribbling, sitting on stools, running and jumping, as if thinking of my own childhood. I can't help thinking, are they so naughty at their age? It's not easy for teachers to pull up these bear children. What's more touching is the autistic children. They are reticent and not good at expressing their inner feelings. At this time, a group of people who are considerate and can give them care when they need help are very important. This puts forward higher standards for volunteers in terms of morality and sense of responsibility. It requires us not to let go of every detail of children, because a little inattention may cause irreparable trauma to their hearts. While carefully observing these children's joys and sorrows, the relationship between ourselves and the children becomes inseparable in a few hours. Until we want to return, we are still reluctant to part with these children. Such an experience is really a shock to the soul.
So, after becoming a mature volunteer, in the summer vacation of the second year of University, I went to Yanqing District World Horticultural Exposition in Beijing to volunteer with 200 students from Beijing University of technology. The seven-day volunteer service of the world horticultural exposition has brought us rich experiences, such as the persistence under the umbrella of the sun, the laughter of the companions during the shift and rest period, and the warmth of the tourists when they receive the thank-you words.
Life experience hall is not easy, especially four outdoor posts. Although in the process of handover, the previous group of volunteers gave their feelings and experience of volunteer service for a week, and we also preliminarily learned about our own work and some information about the World Horticultural Exposition that we need to know, but our improvement of the details of the work was obtained through the service for tourists again and again. From being unfamiliar to being proficient, each of us gradually has the ability to play an independent role in the volunteer position. During this period, we encountered all kinds of problems of tourists, such as looking for toilets, asking for directions, and some of them were very big. In one case, we met a tourist who asked about the hotels near the park. At that time, we were just on duty, not very familiar with the internal structure of the park, let alone outside. Just as we were about to say something unclear and express our apologies, my partner suddenly thought of the wisdom World Park app. However, to our shame, we did not know the software in depth at that time. So we turn on the mobile phone and do it step by step according to the process in the software, and finally solve the problem of tourists. The tourists smiled and thanked us. At that moment, we feel that our hard work is worth it. At first, it's no fault to say "I don't know this clearly". After all, no one can ask volunteers to know everything and have the ability to go to heaven and earth. But the difference is that through this matter, we realize the real value of being a volunteer.
The same is the question and the answer, the difference is facing our face; what is repeated is the simple and mechanical stamping action, and the unique is the unique smile of each tourist. After each explanation, we look at the expression of tourists from confusion to clarity, and our hearts are full of a sense of achievement. All of these, moving us, warming us, bring brilliant color to our volunteer life.
At one time, we may do these things for the purpose of volunteer time and comprehensive measurement, but in the voluntary service, we unconsciously guide tourists endlessly. In this process, our so-called private heart no longer exists. We have gained thanks, friendship, interpersonal communication and social ability. We understand that tourists need us, the Expo needs us, and the country needs us. Maybe some people think that how can we feel the spirit of society and even the national level from the small voluntary service? I'm afraid it's because they haven't experienced these things personally.
Fantasy has no result, practice produces true knowledge. Have a problem think impassability, go to try, why should be immersed in meditation all day long. University is not only a platform for knowledge, but also a platform for social interaction, which provides various opportunities for practice. Only through experience can you realize the feeling that you can't imagine. This is the process of cognitive change and the reconstruction of the three outlooks. University, though a school, plays a role beyond the school itself. It will be an important turning point in life to abandon the monotonous and tedious dormitory life and take the first step to broaden our horizons.
