Breakthrough in LED Packaging Materials – Low-Refractive-Index Silane Enables High-Efficiency Semiconductor Lighting

Hits: 72 img

With the rapid development of Mini LED, Micro LED, and deep ultraviolet LED technologies, the refractive index matching, high-temperature resistance, and UV resistance of encapsulation materials have become key factors restricting luminous efficiency and lifespan. Anhui Aiyota has developed low-refractive-index vinyl polysiloxanes and hydrogen-containing polysiloxane crosslinking agents, providing innovative material solutions for LED encapsulation.

LED encapsulating adhesives require a refractive index between that of the chip (GaN refractive index 2.4) and air (1.0). Traditional epoxy resins have a refractive index of 1.5-1.6 and are prone to yellowing, while silicone encapsulating adhesives have a controllable refractive index of 1.40-1.53, a light transmittance >95%, and do not yellow even after long-term use at 200℃. By introducing phenyl, fluorine atoms, or special siloxane structures, the refractive index can be further reduced to 1.38-1.41, improving light extraction efficiency by 15-20%.

Aiyota provides a complete set of materials for LED packaging silanes, including high-purity vinyl-terminated polysiloxanes (vinyl content 0.05-1.0%), hydrogen-containing crosslinking agents (hydrogen content 0.1-1.6%), tackifiers, and inhibitors. The purity reaches electronic grade, with metal ion content <1ppb. The products have been applied in white LEDs, UV LEDs, automotive lighting modules, and other applications, passing the LM-80 light decay test with a luminous flux maintenance rate >90% after 50,000 hours. The company provides formulation design, curing process optimization, and reliability testing services.
