Lightweight automotive materials – silane coupling agents aid in bonding aluminum alloys to plastics

Hits: 83 img

With the trend towards lightweighting in new energy vehicle bodies, the application of composite structures combining aluminum alloys and engineering plastics is becoming increasingly widespread, but reliable bonding between these two materials has become a technical challenge. Anhui Aiyota's dual-aminosilane coupling agent provides an effective solution for joining dissimilar materials.

This product contains two active amino groups and a hydrolyzable alkoxysilane group. The amino groups react with adhesives such as polyurethane and epoxy resins, while the silicon groups form chemical bonds with the oxide layer on the aluminum alloy surface. Actual test data shows that the shear strength of the silane-treated aluminum alloy-ABS bonded joint exceeds 25 MPa, and after 1000 hours of humid heat aging at 85℃/85%RH, the strength retention rate exceeds 80%, meeting the service life requirements of automobiles.
