What are the advantages of irradiation crosslinking and ordinary silane insulation?
Irradiation crosslinking is the crosslinking of cable by high energy electron beam generated by electron accelerator, which makes the insulation layer polyethylene of cable change from linear molecular structure to three-dimensional network structure, forming a three-dimensional lattice smaller than water molecule, forming a dense layer on the surface and inside of polyethylene, thus effectively preventing the combination of hydroxide and water molecule. It improves the temperature resistance, wear resistance and flame retardancy of wires and cables, and more importantly, it plays a water retardant role.

This crosslinking method has no high temperature and no water. It can not only cross-link polyethylene, but also improve the flame retardant and electrical properties of cables. The cable has the characteristics of low smoke, halogen-free, flame retardant and high temperature resistance. Specific performances are as follows: high temperature-resistant grade; long-term permissible working temperature of conductor can reach 135 C (filling, winding, sheathing materials need to choose materials with the same temperature-resistant grade as insulation, while ordinary silane cross-linked polyethylene insulated cable has 90 degrees of temperature-resistant); halogen-free flame-retardant performance is good: smoke-free toxic gas, transmittance (>90%) and PH value (>6.0) (transmittance of ordinary low-smoke halogen-free cable (>60 degrees) Its PH value is more than 4.3%, and its mechanical properties are excellent. The wear-resistant times are 160,000, and the service life is more than 50 years.

However, due to the large investment in irradiation equipment, the general cable manufacturers do not have the irradiation capacity. If the cable is processed outside the irradiation, transportation and irradiation costs will increase the cost of the cable and prolong the production cycle, which will affect the delivery of the product. Therefore, some cable material manufacturers have developed'silane cross-linked halogen-free low smoke flame retardant polyolefin insulator'based on the characteristics of irradiated cross-linked cables as a substitute.

Its characteristic is that it can be crosslinked by traditional warm water cooking, and it has halogen-free, wear-resistant and other characteristics, and the temperature-resistant grade has also been improved. However, because it is boiled in warm water, the water absorption of hydroxides leads to the decrease of insulation resistance, so the electrical performance can not reach the level of irradiated cross-linked cables.
