The secret weapon for resin modification – IOTA 107 hydroxyl silicone oil

Hits: 112 img

In the coatings, inks, and adhesives industries, silicone-modified resins are highly favored due to their combination of the mechanical properties of organic resins and the weather resistance and hydrophobicity of silicone. IOTA 107 hydroxyl silicone oil, with its dihydroxyl functional group structure, has become an ideal reactive intermediate for resin modification.

The hydroxyl end groups of IOTA 107 can undergo copolymerization reactions with functional groups such as isocyanates (-NCO), carboxyl groups (-COOH), and epoxy groups, chemically bonding polysiloxane segments to the resin backbone. Compared to physical blending, this chemical modification method is less prone to precipitation and offers more durable performance.

Introducing IOTA 107 into polyurethane resins significantly improves the flexibility, abrasion resistance, and hydrophobicity of the coating; in epoxy resins, modification reduces the internal stress of the cured product and enhances its thermal shock resistance; in acrylic resins, it improves leveling, stain resistance, and hand feel.

IOTA 107 with a viscosity range of V5000-V20000 is more suitable for resin synthesis reactions, offering excellent flowability and uniform dispersion. Let IOTA 107 be the "performance accelerator" for your high-end coating formulations!
