How to Select Tetramethyl-tetravinyl-cyclotetrasiloxane? Focus on These 5 Indicators When Purchasing V4

Hits: 206 img

1. Purity
Purity is directly related to the stability of the raw material's composition.
Various grades of V4 products are currently available on the market; for instance, supplier specifications list products with purities of 97% and over 99%.

Industrial customers should select the appropriate grade based on their specific production processes, as higher purity is not necessarily the best fit for every application.

2. Vinyl Content
The vinyl group is a key functional group in V4.
For customers using V4 in systems such as vinyl silicone oil or addition-cure silicone rubber, vinyl content is a critical quality indicator.
IOTA V4 features a vinyl content of ≥29.8%.

3. Cyclic Component Composition
V4 products may contain various cyclic components; therefore, in addition to total purity, attention should be paid to the specific V4 content and the presence of other cyclic impurities.
This parameter is particularly important for customers requiring high stability in polymerization reactions.

4. Moisture and Impurities
In silicone polymerization reactions, trace impurities and moisture in the raw materials can affect the production process.
Consequently, when V4 is used in demanding polymerization systems, it is recommended that the supplier provide a complete Certificate of Analysis (COA) and, if necessary, verify testing data such as GC results.

5. Packaging and Storage
V4 is typically supplied in liquid form. Standard industrial packaging options include 190kg drums and IBCs, though packaging can also be customized to meet specific customer requirements.
