Can KH-550 and KH-560 be used in combination?

Some formulations utilize a combination of aminosilanes and epoxysilanes to balance interfacial reactions with resin compatibility. However, such combinations can have cumulative effects on curing speed, viscosity, pot life, and storage stability.
Therefore, simply adopting the mixing ratios from other formulations is not recommended. Instead, experimental groups should be established to compare the use of KH-550 alone, KH-560 alone, a combination of the two, and a control group with no coupling agent.
What is the appropriate dosage of coupling agent?
Adding more coupling agent is not necessarily better. Excessive amounts can lead to self-condensation, the formation of an uneven interfacial layer, or adverse effects on resin curing and the properties of the finished product.
For the preliminary screening of inorganic filler surface treatments, a dosage range of 0.5% to 2% of the filler's mass can serve as a reference for gradient testing; however, this is not a fixed recommendation applicable to all systems. The specific dosage should be determined based on the product's Technical Data Sheet (TDS), the filler's specific surface area, the density of surface hydroxyl groups, and actual experimental results.
