What harm does silicone oil do to the chest?


The patient has been injected silicone oil into the chest for five years. Over time, the patient's breasts have been suffering from swelling, pain, stiffness and other discomfort. After these reactions in her chest, she found the doctor who gave her the injection and took it out by suction. Unfortunately, the suction operation under blind vision can not only play any role, but also expand the erosion surface of foreign bodies, forming foreign body granuloma, causing further damage to the tissue. She finally came to me for help accompanied by her family. The patient said: "the doctor did not take out anything. Later, I felt a lot of small pimples growing in my chest, which made me more flustered.".


Her situation is not optimistic. Compared with olmerdine, the degree of silicon oil erosion and damage to tissue is more serious, tissue hyperplasia is more, and operation is more difficult. Silicone oil injected into the body, just like water splashed in the sand, will soon infiltrate and erode the tissue, destroy the breast, and have a series of negative effects. After getting her MRI, my idea was confirmed. The injection level was unclear, the diffusion was serious, and it was very difficult to deal with.


We use endoscope to assist exploration. A clearer visual field is helpful to accurately locate the foreign body, to loosen and treat the pathological tissue to the maximum extent, including the nodules, thicknesses, masses and scleroses caused by the foreign body, to open the adherent part and take out the free silicone oil. Subsequently, we supplemented with normal saline to wash the cavity of the injection area, so as to minimize the foreign body residue. After the operation, we will send the small tissue eroded by foreign body to the pathological examination to make sure whether these glands and tissues eroded by foreign body have pathological changes, so as to ensure the next medical treatment direction of the patient.
