A release agent is a functional substance between the mold and the finished product. The release agent is chemically resistant and does not dissolve in contact with different resin chemistries (especially styrene and amines). The release agent also has heat and stress properties, and is not easy to decompose or wear; the release agent adheres to the mold without being transferred to the part being processed, and does not interfere with painting or other secondary processing operations.

①Silicon series——mainly siloxane compounds, silicone oil, silicone resin methyl branched chain silicone oil, methyl silicone oil, emulsified methyl silicone oil, hydrogen-containing methyl silicone oil, silicone grease, silicone resin, silicone rubber, silicone rubber toluene solution
② Wax series - plant, animal, synthetic paraffin; microcrystalline paraffin; polyethylene wax, etc.
③Fluorine series - the best isolation performance, less pollution to the mold, but high cost PTFE; fluorine resin powder; fluorine resin coating, etc.
④Surfactant series - metal soap (anionic), EO, PO derivatives (non-ionic)
⑤Inorganic powder series - talc, mica, clay, white clay, etc.
⑥Polyether series - a mixture of polyether and fat oil, with good heat resistance and good chemical resistance, it is mostly used in some rubber industries that have restrictions on silicone oil. The cost is higher than the silicone oil series.
02The difference between water-based and solvent-based release agents
Water-based mold release agent:
Acid resistance, alkali resistance, hard water resistance, strong water solubility, good stability. Any ratio of water dilution will not stratify, do not break demulsification, do not agglomerate, long shelf life, high solid content, and good dispersibility.
Oily release agent:
CFA-free, environmentally friendly and non-toxic; oil-based release agent does not corrode the product and mold, does not affect the second processing of the product, and the surface is not greasy; it is especially suitable for the molding of large plastic shell products.
