What is the difference between liquid silicone and solid silicone?

Hits: 459 img

What we usually call silica gel has two physical states, one is flowing liquid; the other is solid. Non-solid silica gel that can flow like water is called liquid silica gel; of course, liquid silica gel has a certain viscosity and is usually denser than water, so its fluidity is not as strong as water.

Liquid silica gel will undergo a curing reaction when it encounters a curing agent or a catalyst. According to the type of liquid silica gel, it will solidify into solid silica gel with different hardness and performance.

Liquid silicone can be divided into:

1. Silicone mold
Mold liquid silicone is a new type of molding material. Compared with steel molds, silicone molds made of mold silicone have huge advantages in production efficiency and production cost. Today, mold silicone has been widely used in the toy and gift industry, medical, electronics, mechanical fields, character reproduction, home building decoration industry, unsaturated resin handicraft industry, simulated animal and plant sculpture, Buddha carving handicrafts and other industries.

2. Pad printing silicone
Pad printing liquid silicone is used to make pad printing pads, mainly used for printing plastic toys, electroplating products, electronic toys, trademarks, and irregular patterns. Pad printing rubber head is to use the pattern on the steel plate as a carrier through the rubber head, and then transfer the pattern on the steel plate to the toy product. Pad printing liquid silicone can control the hardness by adding silicone oil.

3. Electronic potting silicone
Electronic potting liquid silica gel is mainly used for potting electronic products. Using electronic potting liquid silica gel can play a role in sealing, waterproofing, dustproofing, heat conduction, shockproof, and insulation for electronic products. In addition, one is potting glue for LED, which has the characteristics of high transparency and high refractive index.

4. Prototype silicone
Prototype liquid silicone is also called the first version of silica gel. It is usually used to make prototype models. Compared with prototype oil mud, prototype liquid silicone has the characteristics of wear resistance and strong resilience after curing.

5. Silicone glue
Silicone glue is what we usually call glass glue, and it is also a kind of liquid silicone. During the use of silicone glue, a curing agent is added in disorder, and when it encounters water molecules in the air, it can be cured into a tough solid, so as to achieve bonding between the glass gaps. The cured silicone adhesive has the characteristics of weather resistance, vibration resistance, moisture resistance, odor resistance and adaptability to large changes in cold and heat.

6. Clothing label silicone support
After the liquid clothing label silicone is cured, it is the silicone label we often see in clothing manufacturers. The use of liquid silicone to make clothing labels has the characteristics of good hand feeling, wear resistance, and high production efficiency.

7. High temperature silica gel
Ordinary high-temperature mold silicone used to make silicone molds can withstand high temperatures between 200 and 300 degrees Celsius, while high-temperature liquid silicone used in aviation and bronzing industries can work for a long time at 400 to 1300 degrees Celsius after curing. A change in performance occurs.

8. Body silicone
Human body silicone is a kind of liquid silicone with low curing hardness. It is environmentally friendly, non-toxic, and has no adverse effects on the human body. Therefore, it can be implanted into the human body and is usually used to make artificial limbs. It can also be used to simulate characters, etc.
