Silane coupling agent - bridge between organic and inorganic materials

Hits: 941 img

Coupling agent is a kind of material in the composite system of inorganic materials and polymer materials, which can combine the two through physical and/or chemical interaction, or through physical and/or chemical reaction, so as to improve the compatibility of the two and thus improve the comprehensive properties of composite materials. Below by small make up for you to introduce one of the earliest research, application of the earliest coupling agent - silane coupling agent.

Silane coupling agent is a kind of silane containing two groups with different chemical properties (organic functional group and hydrolyzable group) in the molecule. The molecular structure formula is generally y-r-si (Men) x4-n-1 (in the formula, y-organic functional group, r-hydrolyzable silicon functional group).

By using silane coupling agent, a "molecular bridge" can be built between inorganic material and organic material interface, and two materials with different properties can be connected together to form a bonding layer between organic matrix and silane coupling agent and inorganic matrix, so as to improve the properties of composite materials and increase the bonding strength. Typical silane coupling agents include A151(vinyl triethoxy silane), A171(vinyl triethoxy silane), A172(vinyl triethoxy silane), etc.
