Airgel is a new lightweight porous solid material. Due to its low density, high specific surface area and excellent thermal insulation performance, it has been widely used in many fields such as petrochemical industry, thermal pipeline, ship hull insulation and building insulation. IOTA Si40 (Ethyl silicate 40), is one of the main raw materials for preparing airgel.

Compared with other airgel preparation methods, the use of IOTA-Si40 to prepare airgel has many advantages. First, the high purity of IOTA-Si40 can avoid the introduction of impurities in the airgel preparation process, thereby ensuring the quality and performance of the airgel. Secondly, IOTA-Si40 can be used as a cross-linking agent in the preparation process to improve the mechanical strength and stability of the aerogel, while reducing the density of the aerogel, making the aerogel lighter. In addition, the airgel prepared by IOTA-Si40 can be degraded under certain conditions, which has better sustainability and environmental friendliness.

In addition to the application in the preparation of airgel, IOTA-Si40 can also be used as a crosslinking agent for room temperature vulcanized silicone rubber, a raw material for MQ silicone resin, a raw material for inorganic zinc-rich paint, and an auxiliary agent for precision casting. For example, in room temperature vulcanized silicone rubber, IOTA-Si40 as a crosslinking agent can significantly improve the wear resistance and chemical resistance of silicone rubber, while reducing the vulcanization time and temperature. In MQ silicone resin, IOTA-Si40 as a silicon source can increase the crosslink density and heat resistance of the resin. In inorganic zinc-rich paint, IOTA-Si40 can increase the hardness of the paint film, reduce the permeability and improve the corrosion resistance of the coating. In precision casting, IOTA-Si40 can be used as an additive to improve the surface quality of castings.
