WHAT IS LIQUID SILICONE RUBBER?

Hits: 406 img

Silicone rubber is a linear polyorganosiloxane-based polymer, adding crosslinking agent, reinforcing filler and other compounding agents, and forming an elastic body with a network structure after vulcanization. It has excellent high and low temperature resistance, weather resistance, ozone resistance, arc resistance, electrical insulation, high air permeability and physiological inertia, etc. It is widely used in many fields such as construction, automobile, electronics, electric power, medical treatment and aviation. According to its commodity form, silicone rubber is divided into two categories: mixing silicone rubber and liquid silicone rubber.

Mixed silicone rubber is made of high-polymerization linear polyorganosiloxane combined with reinforcing fillers, additives and vulcanizing agents, which are formed and vulcanized to make products. Because it has the same operation process as ordinary organic rubber, such as plasticizing by roller, compounding vulcanizing agent, and pressing, it is called mixing silicone rubber. Liquid silicone rubber is based on linear polyorganosiloxane with a medium degree of polymerization, without the need for complex mixing
Refining and molding processing equipment, it can be vulcanized into an elastomer by contacting with moisture or mixing with a crosslinking agent at room temperature or with a little heating. According to its cross-linking vulcanization mechanism, liquid silicone rubber can be divided into two types: condensation type and addition type.

Addition-type liquid silicone rubber has the following advantages compared with compounded silicone rubber:
1. Addition-type liquid silicone rubber is an injection-type elastomer. The processing technology is easy to realize mechanization, continuity and automation. It can double the molding efficiency while reducing labor intensity and improving the working environment.
2. Reduced investment in processing equipment and models.
3. Save auxiliary costs (energy saving, resource saving).
4. No solvent, water and other dispersion media are used, and it is processed in a liquid state (no solvent, no pollution); no small molecules and other by-products are produced during the vulcanization process, safe, non-toxic, and stable in size.
