Silicone rubber belongs to polymer synthetic rubber and is an elastic irreversible impression material. In recent years, it has been widely used in the medical field, and as an impression material, it mainly utilizes its good elasticity, toughness, and strength. In addition. Silicone rubber molds also have the advantages of good fluidity, plasticity, and reduced volume. The molds produced have high accuracy, good chemical stability, no reaction with the model material, and are easy to demold. They are currently an ideal type of mold material.
Application scope:
Repair: such as porcelain bridge crowns, partial dentures, etc.
Orthodontics: Tongue side and transparent orthodontic model equipment, individual mold preparation, etc.
Classification:
1. Polycondensated silicone rubber. The precision is the lowest among silicone rubber impression materials.
2. Add clustering silicone rubber. One of the materials with the highest precision. Very stable. It is one of the preferred printing materials. The price is relatively high.
3. Polyether rubber. It is one of the materials with the highest precision, good fluidity, and high price.
Qualified silicone rubber impression standards:
1. The final impression should cover the entire crown and gingival margin
2. Complete dentition
3. The crown and gingival margin are clear and intact, without any air bubbles, cavities, defects, or folds.
4. The anatomical structure of the bite surface, lip and cheek surfaces, and lingual side of the teeth is clear.
5. No demolding.
