As the industrial coatings market has increasing requirements for adhesion, weather resistance and environmental performance, the role of functional additives has become particularly critical. 3-Glycidyloxypropyltrimethoxysilane (GPTMS) launched by IOTA is an ideal adhesion promoter in coating formulations.
GPTMS has a unique bifunctional structure, with an epoxy group at one end, which can react chemically with various resins (such as epoxy, polyurethane, acrylic, etc.), and a hydrolyzable methoxysilane group at the other end, which can form a stable covalent bond with the hydroxyl group on the surface of the inorganic substrate (such as glass, ceramics, metal oxides, etc.), thereby significantly improving the adhesion of the coating to the substrate.
In practical applications, GPTMS can be used in water-based and solvent-based systems, and the addition amount is as low as 0.5-3%, which can significantly improve the water resistance, weather resistance and anti-stripping properties of the coating. Its excellent compatibility and reactivity make it a recommended choice in high-end anti-corrosion coatings, glass coatings, metal protective coatings and other fields.
