Polysulfide sealants are common structural protective materials in the aviation, marine, and automotive industries.
However, under long-term operating conditions, the interface between the substrate and the sealant is often the most susceptible to delamination or failure.
The introduction of IOTA-602 N-aminoethyl-3-aminopropylmethyldimethoxysilane changes this:
Adding 0.5–1.0 wt% to polysulfide sealants significantly improves adhesion to glass, steel, and aluminum.
The bond strength is sufficient to prevent failure within the sealant, rather than at the substrate interface.
The uniform dispersion does not affect the processing and performance of the sealant itself.
This means less maintenance and longer-lasting sealing, meeting the stringent safety and durability requirements of the transportation, aviation, and marine industries.
