With the continuous advancement of materials technology, the requirements for interfacial strength, weather resistance, and water resistance in composite materials, coatings, and adhesive systems are becoming increasingly stringent. IOTA-1524 (3-ureidopropyltrimethoxysilane) demonstrates the following significant applications and advantages in these systems:
1. Metal Surface Anticorrosion and Rust Prevention
IOTA-1524 can be used for metal surface treatment (such as copper, silver, iron, and aluminum), forming a self-assembled layer with silicophilic metal bonds on the metal surface. This layer acts as a moisture barrier, inhibits oxidation, and acts as an adhesion bridge when bonding with subsequent polymer materials (such as coatings, films, and adhesives), thereby improving corrosion resistance and interfacial bonding strength.
2. Polymer Filling and Reinforcement
Adding IOTA-1524 to thermosetting or thermoplastic materials (such as epoxy resin, phenolic resin, polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene, polyurethane, rubbers such as NR, EPDM, SBR, nitrile rubber, and polyurethane) can improve the interfacial bonding between fillers (such as glass fiber, mica, talc, quartz powder, silica, fly ash, etc.) and the resin matrix. This can enhance mechanical properties, wear resistance, creep resistance, and resistance to moisture and heat.
3. Crosslinking Accelerator/Reinforcement Agent
In composite materials, coatings, inks, adhesives, and sealant systems, IOTA-1524 can be used as both a crosslinking accelerator and a reinforcement agent. It enhances the mechanical strength, water resistance, and weathering resistance of the products, and is particularly effective in improving the adhesion of coatings/adhesive layers.
4. Casting and Resin Mold Applications
In the foundry industry, IOTA-1524 is used to bond cold box resin to sand molds, significantly improving sand strength and bonding performance. It also improves casting quality and reduces scrap while reducing resin usage and gas evolution.
