Have you ever wondered why a pair of Warrior (a popular Chinese sneaker brand) shoes are both durable and soft? Why can a conveyor belt operate for extended periods under high temperatures and heavy loads? The answer may lie in a functional additive called IOTA-Si69.
As a representative of sulfur-containing silane coupling agents, IOTA-Si69 plays a "four-in-one" role in the rubber industry:
1. Coupling agent: Enhances the bonding between inorganic fillers (such as silica) and the rubber matrix;
2. Vulcanizing agent/crosslinking aid: Participates in the sulfur vulcanization system, improving crosslinking density and stability;
3. Softener: Reduces the Mooney viscosity of unvulcanized rubber compounds, improving mixing and extrusion properties;
4. Reinforcing agent: Improves tensile strength, tear strength, and abrasion resistance.
Practical Applications:
- Tire Industry: Used in tire treads to significantly reduce rolling resistance (saving fuel) while improving tear and water resistance;
- Industrial Products: Used in solid tires, rubber rollers, and steel cord adhesive layers to improve dynamic heat generation and compression set;
- Footwear: Significantly improves resilience and abrasion life after use in marathon running shoes and tennis shoe soles;
- Cable Sheaths: Enhances adhesion between insulation and outer layers, improving weather resistance and mechanical strength.
More importantly, IOTA-Si69 also reduces the risk of scorching, making production safer and more efficient.
