About organizing students to participate in the 7th "League Cup" undergraduate college English writing competition in Guangdong Province
Notice on the in school trials of Zhuhai College of Beijing University of Technology
English major sub committee of Foreign Language Teaching Steering Committee of Guangdong undergraduate colleges and universities (hereinafter referred to as "the provincial English Major Teaching Steering Committee") and Guangdong College English Course Teaching Steering Committee (hereinafter referred to as "the Provincial College English Teaching Steering Committee") jointly hold the 7th "League Cup" English Writing competition of undergraduate colleges and universities in Guangdong Province together with China League of College English writing teaching and learning 。
In order to improve the college students' English application ability, cultivate and find excellent English writing talents, encourage the students to challenge themselves, improve their international communication ability, and enrich the second English class activities of our school, we hereby decide to organize our students to participate in the school trials of the 7th "League Cup" undergraduate college English writing competition in Guangdong Province. The event is jointly sponsored by the Academic Affairs Office of Zhuhai College of Beijing University of technology and the school of foreign languages, and hosted by the Foreign Languages Department of the University of foreign languages. The specific matters are hereby notified as follows:
1、 Participants
All undergraduates of our university who have the student status of Guangdong ordinary colleges and universities.
One Non English major students who are studying various courses of College English in this semester (except for those majors where college English is not a foreign language college), Japanese major students of second foreign language (English) course, and international Chinese education major students of Comprehensive English course are required to participate in all courses, answer questions according to the composition answer number arranged by the teacher, and include them in the average Time performance;
2. Freshmen and sophomores of English Majors (including English, translation and business English majors) of foreign languages college are required to participate in the course, answer questions according to the composition answer number assigned by the teacher, and include them in the usual homework scores;
3. students of other grades and other majors except the first, second category participate voluntarily.
2、 Entry method
The school trials are divided into the school preliminaries and the school finals.
（1） School preliminaries:
Preliminary competition time: April 8, 2020 to May 24, 2020.
Preliminary competition method:
——Students who have English class this semester (i.e. class 1 and 2 of the above participants), please ask the teacher for the competition
According to the arrangement of the teachers, the composition answer number will be sent to the grading network (http://www.pigai.org) for answer.
——Students who do not have an English course in this semester (i.e. the third category of participants mentioned above) can log in to the correction website (http://www.pigai.org) and search for the answer No. 1726415 with their registered account.
Note: the personal information registered by competitors and instructors shall be accurate and true. If it is verified by the organizing committee that it is inconsistent with the real situation, it will be disqualified. Students must submit their compositions before 23:59 on May 24, 2020.
（2） School Finals:
According to the results of automatic scoring on the rating network (invalid artificial scoring), the top 20 English Majors (including English, translation, business English majors) and the top 50 non English majors are selected to enter the school finals.
In the final of the school, another writing method with time limit is adopted, and teachers of our school of foreign languages are organized to evaluate the final composition manually, and awards are determined according to the evaluation results. The specific method, time and place of the final will be notified separately.
（3） Award settings:
There are special prizes and first, second and third prizes in the school finals.
First prize: the number of winners shall be set according to the proportion required by the official competition. The top prize winners include English Majors (including English, translation and business English majors) and non English majors. They will represent our university in the final of the 7th "League Cup" undergraduate college English writing competition in Wushan campus of South China University of technology at the end of June (due to the impact of the epidemic, the specific time will be notified in advance).
First prize: 3 in the professional group and 6 in the non professional group; second prize: 6 in the professional group and 12 in the non professional group; third prize: in addition to the first prize, the first prize and the second prize, other players who participate in the school finals will receive the third prize.
