Do you know the difference between silane crosslinking and irradiation crosslinking

Irradiation crosslinking is using high energy electron beam produced by the electron accelerator to the crosslinking of cable, the cable insulation layer of polyethylene by linear molecular structure into a three-dimensional network structure, formed less than the three dimensional lattice water molecules, the polyethylene surface and internal form dense layer, thus effectively prevent the hydroxyl and the combination of water molecules, the crosslinking method not only improves the heat resistance, abrasion resistance and flame retardant performance of wire and cable, of the block water. This crosslinking method has no high temperature and no water, which can not only make polyethylene crosslinking, but also improve the flame retardant and electrical properties of cables. The cable has the characteristics of low smoke, no halogen, flame retardant and high temperature resistant. The specific performance is as follows: high temperature resistance grade; The allowable working temperature of conductor can reach 135℃ for a long time (the filling, wrapping and sheath materials should be selected with the same temperature resistance grade as insulation materials, while the temperature resistance of ordinary silane crosslinked polyethylene insulated cable is 90 degrees). Halogen-free flame retardant performance: no gas gas, light transmittance ≥ 90%, PH value ≥6.0 (ordinary low-smoke halogen-free cable light transmittance ≥ 60%, PH value ≥4.3); Excellent mechanical performance. Wear-resistant times up to 160,000 times, the service life of more than 50 years.

However, due to the large investment of irradiation equipment, the general cable production enterprises do not have the ability of irradiation, and the transportation cost and irradiation cost will increase the cable cost and the production cycle will be prolonged, which will affect the product delivery. Therefore, according to the characteristics of irradiated cross-linked cables, some cable material manufacturers developed 'silane cross-linked halogen-free low-smoke flame retardant polyolefin insulation material' as its substitute. It can be steamed and cross-linked with traditional warm water, and has the characteristics of halogen-free, wear-resistant, temperature resistance level has been improved. However, because it is cooked in warm water, the hydroxides absorb the water and cause the insulation resistance to drop, so the electrical properties cannot reach the level of irradiated cross-linked cables.

When processing customer orders, if the required model is wdz-yj (F)E, it can be understood that there is no special requirement for the temperature resistance grade of the cable, which is still 90 degrees, but it puts forward high requirements for its wear resistance and life span. Silane crosslinking low smoke zero halogen flame retardant polyolefin insulation material density of 1.45 g/cm, irradiation crosslinking density of insulation material and its quite, is greater than the density of water, if use common silane crosslinking insulation instead of irradiation crosslinking insulation material, as long as take a small piece of the ups and downs in water can identify, so use ordinary silane insulation material instead of irradiation crosslinking material does not work, the performance difference between the two is too big. However, whether it can be replaced by silane crosslinked halogen free low smoke flame retardant polyolefin insulation material, we should first fully communicate with the customer, understand the customer's use situation and then decide whether it can be substituted.
