DAMO is used as a primer or additive in high flame retardant, low smoke (HFFR) cable materials and chemically modified mineral-filled polymer composites. In HFFR cable production, DAMO strengthens the adhesion between metal or mineral fillers and the polymer matrix, improving mechanical tensile strength, heat resistance, and durability.
Furthermore, adding DAMO to bio-based or mineral-filled polymer composites acts as an interfacial bridge, enhancing the dispersion and adhesion of fillers (such as titanium dioxide, talc, and alumina) within the polymer, thereby improving the overall physical strength, flexural modulus, and surface wear resistance of the material. This type of modifier has significant potential for promotion in the sustainable development and environmentally friendly materials industries.
