Fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP) is a key material for wind energy, rail transit, and lightweight automotive applications. However, poor interfacial compatibility between organic resins and inorganic fibers has long been a major industry pain point. IOTA-5172 (vinyltri[2-methoxyethoxy]silane), a highly effective coupling agent, creates a "molecular bridge" between resin and glass fiber, significantly enhancing interfacial adhesion. Its unique flexible chain segments also improve the toughness and fatigue performance of the composite material. Applications have shown that glass fiber composites treated with IOTA-5172 exhibit enhanced strength and durability in wind turbine blades and automotive structural components. With the development of renewable energy and lightweight vehicles, the composites industry's demand for high-performance silanes will continue to grow, and IOTA-5172 is undoubtedly a key driver of this progress.
