Oxime Silane Crosslinkers for Construction Silicone Sealants and Glass Glazing

How Do Oxime Crosslinkers Support Construction Silicone Sealants?
Silicone sealants play an important role in modern construction. They are widely used in window installation, glass glazing, curtain wall systems, expansion joints and weatherproof sealing applications.

These applications require sealants with suitable elasticity, weather resistance and long-term sealing performance. A well-designed silicone formulation is therefore essential.

Oxime-functional silanes are commonly used as crosslinkers in neutral-cure silicone sealant systems. Methyltris(methylethylketoxime)silane, also known as MOS silane, is one of the important raw materials used in these formulations.

When incorporated into silanol-terminated PDMS-based sealants, MOS participates in moisture-triggered hydrolysis and condensation reactions. This process helps create a crosslinked silicone network after the sealant is applied.

For construction sealant manufacturers, crosslinker selection can influence several formulation characteristics, including curing speed, skin formation, adhesion performance and final mechanical properties.

In certain formulations, MOS can also be combined with other functional silanes to adjust the overall curing and adhesion characteristics. However, compatibility and performance should always be confirmed through application testing.

IOTA 5310 is a methyltris(methylethylketoxime)silane with CAS No. 22984-54-9 and a minimum purity of 95%. It is designed for use as a crosslinking agent in RTV silicone rubber and neutral silicone sealants.
